Who should join?
With the PV CYCLE Distributor Take-back Scheme (DTS), PV Distributors now have the opportunity to join a Government-approved, PV sector solution, providing you with an efficient and cost-effective waste management solution.
Collection infrastructure for the UK PV industry
While PV “Producers” (UK-based manufacturers and importers) are legally obligated to pay the onward logistics and recycling costs of PV panels from collection points, the PV CYCLE Distributor Take-back Scheme provides a vital link in the chain to ensure that an infrastructure of collection points is developed and maintained to provide a sustainable solution to end-of-life PV panels.
By joining PV CYCLE DTS, the PV Distributor becomes exempt from its requirement to offer a service directly through its premises and will be compliant with new UK WEEE Regulations.
Distributors will have the opportunity to demonstrate their compliance to customers through the use of the European-wide recycling brand PV CYCLE.
Distributor Obligations
Under the new WEEE Regulations retailers or installers selling photovoltaic (PV) panels to private households are classified as PV Distributors.
To be compliant, Distributors must:
- have a procedure in place to take back PV waste or
- contribute towards a Government-approved Distributor Take-back Scheme to finance collections from local authority sites
