Leading take-back and recycling scheme establishes German subsidiary for WEEE compliance
Brussels/Munich, September 2, 2013 – PV CYCLE Association today announced that it has established the new legal entity PV CYCLE Deutschland GmbH in Munich, Germany. Entirely owned by PV CYCLE Association aisbl, the new entity will be responsible for all operational and legal activities on the German PV market.
Together with PV CYCLE’s other country offices, PV CYCLE Deutschland will provide national compliance solutions under the new WEEE regulation. From February 2014 – at the latest -, German manufacturers and importers are obligated to ensure for waste treatment of the PV modules that they put onto the German market. Besides taking back and recycling PV modules, their obligations will also include extensive reporting, product information and financing requirements.
With the announcement of its third national representation, PV CYCLE also presented its German Country Manager, Mr. Andreas Hess. Responsible for all business development and compliance activities in Germany, Mr. Hess will further foster PV CYCLE’s leading position in Germany and will help to expand the already existing network of collection, transport and recycling partners. The headquarters in Brussels will continue to handle all collection and recycling requests.

Bringing Mr. Hess on board will better enable us to manage this vast waste market in the future”, said Jan Clyncke, Managing Director at PV CYCLE.
PV CYCLE as the independent, PV industry-driven take-back and recycling scheme has been offering comprehensive waste treatment solutions in Germany and the rest of Europe since 2010. To date, PV CYCLE has treated nearly 4,000 tonnes of PV module waste in Germany alone.
